The Technology, Media and IP Commission of AIJA, with the help of the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers (“IAEL”), is pleased to bring to you this exciting seminar in the beautiful city of Lisbon. Most of you will have heard the terms “Web 2.0”, “digital rights management”, “Multiplayer Online Gaming” but what are the business opportunities that the new generation of internet and the virtual worlds present for your clients? How can your client make the most of the digital world whilst avoiding the numerous pitfalls? Similarly, you may have heard about the unprecedented measures taken by the English government to protect and exploit the intellectual property and image rights associated with the 2012 Olympics Games in London, but do you know exactly what these measures comprise of and what we can learn from them? The purpose of our seminar is to bring you fully up to date with some of the latest developments and challenges in the digital media age thus putting you in the best position to advise your clients on the main issues arising in the fast-moving digital media industry. The scientific programme will appeal to experienced technology, media and entertainment lawyers and to younger lawyers alike. We have lined up some very high profile speakers who will deliver dynamic and practical presentations. Lisbon is particularly renowned for its beauty, nightlife and food. These three elements set a unique backdrop for the first AIJA and IAEL joint event. The event will take place in the headquarters of the Portuguese Bar Association (known as “Salão Nobre”) located in Rossio, one of the areas of the city most visited by tourists. The social programme will combine the best of Lisbon’s culture, nightlife and gastronomy.
