The Government of Sri Lanka is in the process of implementing a new charge for such ‘on arrival’ visas which, once the scheme is implemented, would have to be applied for and paid in advance online.
According to the latest reports in the Newspapers the entry into force of the new scheme will be postponed until the 31/3/2012.
This postponement will only apply in respect of tourists who book their tickets before the end of this year.
It would therefore make sense to register early and make your travel bookings prior to 31/12/2011.
Seminar Hotel Bookings
We have secured a block of rooms at good rates from the hotel where the Seminar will take place but this booking is only valid till the 31/12/2011.
To ensure a room at the conference hotel, it would therefore be advisable to confirm your accommodation at the conference hotel before the 31/12/2011.
Optional Post-Seminar Weekend At The Beach
We have secured a block of rooms at the Bentota Beach Hotel for the weekend following the Seminar.
The blocking of the rooms will only be held until 31.12.2011 as it is high season so if the weekend is of interest, please book and pay the hotel early to avoid disappointment.
For those attending the weekend at the beach, there are numerous possibilities for different activities including boat trips, water sports etc. which could be arranged.
If any of these activities are of interest, please contact John Wilson of the local organizing committee (john@srilankalaw.com)
