AIJA is turning 60 this year, and we are going to celebrate our diamond anniversary in the city of diamonds itself: Antwerp.

Join the 60th AIJA Birthday on 9 and 10 December and don’t miss your chance to spend this unforgettable weekend with new and old AIJA friends and get inspired and learn more through our legacy programme especially tailored for this occasion. Anyone will have the opportunity to share their AIJA memories and the important role that the association had in their professional career and personal development.

We invite you to participate in the special programme starting with the Welcome Cocktail Reception at the KMSKA - Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp on Friday (9 December). The celebration will continue on Saturday (10 December) with an anniversary Run for Human Rights, a keynote session and interactive workshop, followed by a get-together brunch and a legacy team-building visits around the city. We will conclude the event with the grand 60th Birthday Gala Dinner, which will take place in the historic heritage venue, Handelsbeurs of Antwerp. It will be a truly memorable experience!

Programme overview


WELCOME COCKTAIL RECEPTION @ KMSKA - Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp – Friday 9 December (18:30-20:30)
To kick-off with AIJA's birthday, we will gather for the Welcome Cocktail Reception on Friday evening to set the anniversary mood. The evening will be hosted in the KMSKA - Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp, a newly renovated 19th century building filled with internationally renowned collection of art, that just re-opened on 24 September 2022. This will be a perfect occasion for different AIJA generations to start getting to know each other and exchanging on their experience with AIJA. The official Anniversary programme on that day finishes at 20:30.
 

60/60 AIJA THROUGH A LEGACY LENS - KEYNOTE SESSION & INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP @ Hilton Antwerp Old Town Hotel – Saturday 10 December (10:30-13:00)
It will be the right moment to take off with our legacy programme. The participants of the event will have a chance to attend the '60/60 AIJA Through a Legacy Lens' meeting, comprising of a keynote session and interactive workshop, which will take place at the Hilton Antwerp Old Town hotel. By actively participating in the programme you will, among others, look back and celebrate what has been achieved, and look forward to explore how we want to shape AIJA's success for the future, be inspired and hear from past and current members as to how AIJA has had an impact on them, their firm and the global community, as well as demonstrate why AIJA should embrace activities that will create a legacy for not only AIJA but will benefit you and play a role towards societal transformation, or examine strategies on how you want AIJA and yourself to create an impact in the places where we gather with our events.
 

THE CITY TOURS: DISCOVER ANTWERP & ITS HERITAGE LANDMARKS @Routes around the city – Saturday 10 December (Round 1 14:00-15:30 / Round 2 15:30-17:00)
Full of AIJA spirit, we will depart on team building visits around the city as the part of legacy adventure, where you will discover more about Antwerp, its heritage, landmarks and traditions. On the way back, you can stop by the magical Christmas market to have a little vin chaud or enjoy a tasting of the famous and very local Elixir d'Anvers.
You may choose between three different city tours. Please sign-up for your favourite option upon your arrival at the Hilton with the AIJA Team at the welcome desk:

Get to know the city of fashion and all its secret stories how Antwerp became the fashion city of Belgium.  The Antwerp six started a movement that gained international fame, during this tour you'll get to know why.
2. Antwerp in a nutshell
The highlights of the centre of the world. As Antwerpians like to call the city 'the centre of the (their) world', our guide will show you why.  The history, the monuments, the beauty and quality of life in the city of diamonds, fashion and architecture.
3. CaféLegendes
Discover the old fashioned bars in the historic centre of Antwerp.  The heart and soul of the city you'll find during this tour.  Drinks included.
 

GALA DINNER @ Handelsbeurs – Saturday 10 December (19:00-02:00)
To conclude the day and whole Anniversary celebration, our cherry on top will be the grand 60th Birthday Gala Dinner at Handelsbeurs! It will be a night to remember filled with fun and great memories, and a DJ will make you dance to AIJA's favourite hits. The evening will be accompanied by a number of attractions such as the AIJA exhibition featuring a unique collection of official past events posters, the 'AIJA Fashion Trends Show' and a lucky one may even become the owner of a true diamond.
 
P.S. AIJA is looking for models to participate in our 'AIJA Fashion Trends Show'. Having variety of sizes in our wardrobe, we encourage those who want to have fun and actively engage into AIJA's story, to submit their interest. You may do that while filling out your registration form.

We are standing in the middle of 60 years of AIJA history created and 60 years of opportunity. Join us to look back and celebrate what has been achieved and look forward to explore how to shape AIJA's success for the future. Be in inspired and hear from past and current members as to how AIJA has had an impact on them, their firm and the global community. We will demonstrate why AIJA should embrace activities that will create a legacy for not only AIJA but will benefit you and play a role towards societal transformation. In groups you will share stories about AIJA's values and initiatives and will explore strategies on how you want AIJA and yourself to create an impact in the places where we gather with our events. The ‘place’ matters.  Why is this the right environment for our meeting?  How can this community support our mission and vision? What are the gaps / challenges in the local society?  How can we have a positive contribution? Through intentional legacy actions, thanks to our global outreach we can together create a ripple effect that will have a lasting impact long after our conferences have ended.

There are currently no registration fees available.

General terms and conditions

By registering you have to accept the general terms and conditions and accept that your registration is considered binding immediately, but participation to the event is possible only after full payment of the registration fee.

Please note that any arrangements related to the participation of the participant in an AIJA event, including but not limited to booking or cancellation of accommodation or flights, as well as respecting the cancellation deadlines indicated in the general terms and conditions, are the sole responsibility of the participant. AIJA shall not be held liable for any expenses the participant may suffer as the result of participant’s failure to comply with his/her obligations.

It is recommended for each participant to purchase a cancellation and travel insurance.

Please note that in-house counsel registrations are subject to review and confirmation by AIJA. AIJA considers in-house counsel professionals who hold a university degree in law allowing access to a bar association and practicing law as an in-house counsel in private, public, or non-profit companies, institutions or organisations. Please note that in-house counsel who are at the same time active as fee-earning lawyers or consultants are not eligible to the discounted in-house counsel fee.

HOW TO BOOK YOUR ROOM?

· You will then receive an e-mail confirmation together with a payment link for credit card details to be provided and complete the payment directly.

Pre-payment & cancellation terms: Rates are per night including breakfast, prepay in full required, non-refundable. Full pre-payment will be taken from the individual guest’s credit card provided during the reservation process. Once the reservations are made any amendments or cancellations will be fully chargeable. Transfers to other guests will be allowed. Please address your request by e-mail to events@sapphirehouseantwerp.com specifying the AIJA-DEC booking code and copying the replacing guest.

Your data will be managed by AIJA's General Services, Events and Accounts Section:

  • For the purpose of administering your registration for the event and your on-site access to the event;
  • In order to pay for the selected services - your bank details will be deleted after receipt of your payment;
  • In order to communicate information messages from AIJA.

To the extent necessary for the execution of their respective tasks, our subcontractors in charge of our seminar organisation, our IT infrastructure, our management, the production and maintenance of our website and extranet, are likely to gain access to your data from time to time. Their servers are located in the European Union.

Data relating to your participation in the event shall be stored for a period of 10 years. We are obliged to archive billing data until the end of the period required for our tax and accounting obligations, i.e. for 7 full tax years.

We shall store your contact information to keep you informed until you ask us to stop. You have the right to access your data and have it corrected if necessary.
