Virtual coffee with the AIJA President #11
12 June 2020 / 15:00 - 15:30
In June, as part of our association’s commitment to Diversity this year, join AIJA President Paola Fudakowska for a series of virtual coffees with inspirational women who will share interesting stories from their careers in frontline journalism, diplomacy, medicine and law.
AIJA members, colleagues, friends and families are invited to join and engage in a interactive discussion about women in leadership across a variety of professions.
This week, Paola has invited Gilly Orr, a former journalist.
Gilly Orr spent 15 years as a journalist. She began by reading the news on Vatican Radio before moving to the Today programme - the preeminent news and current affairs programme on the BBC. She was an output editor and roving producer for the show covering civil unrest, elections and fascinating stories from around the world. In addition, she coordinated BBC radio coverage of major global events like Royal Weddings and the Olympics. She then decided to pivot, so that she could address rather than just witness global inequality. She studied for a masters in Inequality at the LSE and has since worked for charities and social enterprises helping them with change management, fundraising and communications. She is currently External Affairs Director at Social and Sustainable Capital, a social enterprise which helps scale charities with bespoke financial solutions.
