2017 was a record year for real estate mergers and acquisitions, with $387 billion in announced transactions worldwide and there's no sign that this trend is coming to an end. This is why next year’s spring seminar in Utrecht will give you a perfect insight into the know-how and skills you need for getting the real estate deal through.

The Team of the AIJA Commissions for Real Estate and Corporate and M&A has prepared an exciting program that will give you a detailed overview of all important areas of law that are involved in a real estate deal. A significant part of real estate transactions is organized as a sale and purchase of shares. You will learn - among many other things - about the optimal setup of a transaction structure, which creates the lowest costs under tax law, the avoidance of the most dangerous pitfalls due to environmental law regulations and the optimal draft of reps and warranties in order to avoid post acquisition disputes.

Another reason to join us is the city itself. 35 minutes from Schiphol airport, Utrecht is one of the Netherlands' oldest cities, dating back to Roman times. Utrecht offers an inviting mix of timeless history and a contemporary atmosphere. It's a city with a rich history that deftly senses the spirit of the age. The canals, wharf cellars, old churches and of course the Dom Tower create an inspiring backdrop for a wonderful visit. Utrecht is home to over 70,000 university students from the Netherlands and abroad, assuring busy night life until early morning. Come and join us in Utrecht!
