Commission in a nutshell
The Tax Law Commission (TLC) is an easily accessible network of excellent young tax lawyers within AIJA, representing the majority of important countries. TLC provides a forum for both tax specialists and lawyers who are interested in the tax implications of the areas in which they practice. The main focus of TLC is corporate tax law, private clients (including closely held business and estate planning), tax litigation and other general aspects of international tax law.
In this respect, TLC encourages exchanges (i) throughout all jurisdictions and (ii) among AIJA commissions in order to share talents and best practices.
The Annual Tax Conference, organized by TLC, is a 100% tax event, fully focused on the interests of Young Tax Lawyers and organized in such a way that every tax lawyer is able to participate. The time burden is limited to a Friday and Saturday, including travel time to an easy accessible venue. Apart from TLC-members, reputable outside speakers from international organizations and/or universities provide lectures and/or chair discussions about recent developments in international tax law. According to the real AIJA spirit, several occasions are available to meet and speak with other participants and to make arrangements for participations in other seminars, working sessions, workshops etc.
Apart from the Annual Tax Conference, TLC is active in co-organizing workshops and working sessions at the annual AIJA Congresses and seminars. Often TLC plays a supporting role in the organization of events, where the tax part is not the leading issue or the focus is not only on tax lawyers. Commission members are always invited to get involved in seminars or working sessions that may have a tax aspect in order to contribute to them.
If you are a Tax Lawyer, you certainly have to join TLC and participate at least to the Annual Tax Conference. If you are not a Tax Lawyer, invite a Tax Colleague to join us.
