This AIJA seminar will be held in Recife, the largest metropolitan area and one of the major economic and business centres in the North-eastern region of Brazil.  It is also known as a city with some of the most beautiful beaches in the country.

Brazil was chosen to host this seminar because its theme "THE CHALLENGES OF COMPLIANCE AND ANTI-CORRUPTION" has been the main headline of all news and has rocked the foundation of its political and economic system in the past several years.

This seminar will present a general overview and discuss the current hot topics of the anti-corruption legislation and compliance programs, by discussing the critical steps involved in a best-practices compliance program, including procedures, internal controls and compliance department structure.  In addition, the scope of this seminar will include discussions on (i) the right tools to ensure an effective compliance program, taking into account global standards as well as local laws and regulations; and (ii) comparing and contrasting several compliance programs in force around the globe, especially in light of the current enforcement climate in Brazil and the main risks to be considered when doing business here.

The seminar will be held by highly qualified lawyers with a strong international background, and it has been organized having in mind lawyers as well as executives of international companies.

We therefore cordially invite you to join us in Recife.  It will be the perfect place to get to know our fellow lawyers from Brazil and vice versa, and to build a diverse network for future business opportunities.

We look forward to seeing you here!
