AIJA has always been at the forefront of creating awareness for human rights. Connected to this AIJA is part of a coalition for the “Day of the Endangered Lawyer” (DEL).
The DEL takes place on 24 January of each year. Around that day the members of the coalition ask attention for the situation of lawyers who are endangered or who face pressure for doing their work. In 2026, the DEL focusses on the situation of lawyers in the United States of America (USA). A report will be published on the current situation of the legal profession in the USA and the adversities that lawyers face. In addition, the members of the coalition organize events such as seminars, webinars and protests.
In the tradition of the Human Rights run during AIJA’s flagship events, the HRC invites all AIJA Members, lawyers, their friends and family to join us in a sportive challenge in the weeks leading up to the DEL 2026!
The AIJA Human Rights challenge:
When? In the weeks ahead of the Day of the Endangered Lawyer on 24 January 2026, from 9 to 24 January
What? Run/Bike/Swim/Hike or do whatever activity you like!
Why? To draw attention to the DEL 2026, the activities of the coalition and the report that will be published about the situation of lawyers in the USA, and to collect donations!
With whom? Team up with fellow AIJA friends, other friends or family or go by yourself.
Where? Wherever you prefer!
Share! Share your activity on Linkedin and use hashtags #aija4HumanRights #DEL2026 #DayoftheEndangeredLawyer #AIJAHRChallenge and tag AIJA on Instagram and LinkedIn. And, join the Whatsapp Group AIJARun4HumanRights and share pictures and videos of your activity!
